On April 14, 1982, Michael Jackson entered the studio to change music history and his own existence forever. His ‘Thriller’ album became the best-selling album of all time, making him the biggest star on the planet at just 25 years of age. With this new status, Michael Jackson now faces the challenge of staying on top. Brice Najar wanted to evoke this period in the form of interviews with collaborators of the King of Pop. The author begins the book with anecdotes and memories from the studio during the conception of ‘Thriller’. As the pages turn, the years flash by with subsequent projects, culminating in the ‘Bad’ album and its eponymous tour, a triumphant end to the 80s. After two books on the 90s, the author takes us on a new journey to the previous decade. It’s an opportunity to evoke Michael Jackson the artist, but also the human being who was now in competition with himself while on top of the world.
